We are beyond excited to share with you all that three of our Superstar Moms are being honored today for their promise and achievements in the business community. They all are receiving awards for being invited into the 40 under 40 Class of 2015. These three moms have been recognized for being young professionals who have given much to the businesses they work with and are the women to watch! Please help us in congratulating Leah Bojnowski, Sarah Reginelli, and Molly Gumpper!
The children had a fun time learning about Cinco de Mayo. They talked about the traditions that surround this holiday, they dressed up in special dress, and worked on Cinco de Mayo art projects!
The children of Club Fed celebrated Earth Day this year by displaying their beautiful recycled art work and our recycled sensory toys! At Club Fed we know our three R's: reduce, reuse, and recycle! Our art work included trees made from cups we drank out of for breakfast and lovely arrangements of flowers made out of objects such as, tissue paper, spoons, milk bottle tops, napkins, and feathers. Also, while doing so we connected this project to our life cycle curriculum! By the children of Club Fed using recycled objects in their art and their sensory toys we are helping to eliminate the build up of trash in our environment!
Week of the Young Child at Club Fed was a huge success! The book drive which will fill our orange bookshelf outside the center is off to a great start. PLease stop by to take a book and see the beautiful pictures from our Club Fed families reading together as they take part in our Family Reading Partnership. On Wednesday, we had community members come in to read to children and are launching the orange bookshelf which will have free books on it for children to chose a book to take home and read with their families. On Thursday we had a balloon release. And on Friday, all children received a certificate to show that they have read 100 books since being in care with us since September. Thank you also to all of the parents who left kind words for our teachers for Teacher Appreciation Day on Tuesday!
Our Easter Egg Hunt was a success! It was a perfect day for the children to find hidden Easter Eggs on the playground. We also made Easter Baskets, baked special treats, and had Egg on a Spoon races! Many families came to join us for the make-and-take and Easter Celebration that we had after hunt! It was a fun afternoon for all!
What better way to extend the curriculum being taught in the classroom then to take a field trip to see what we are learning about firsthand! That is just what Camp Mighty Redwood and Camp Laurel Oak did! For the month of March we studied collections and even made our own geode rock collection. We then took a field trip to the New York State Museum so we could study the real collections, one of which was the geode rock collections, and ride on the carousel of course! It was a fun and enriching trip had by all. Thank you to the parents who joined us for the field trip, we could not do it without you all!
We were excited to see many parents who came and joined us for the new Make-And-Take component of our celebrations at our St. Patrick's Day Celebration! For those of you who couldn't make it but are making the project at home, we would love to see how the final project! Thank you to the Parent's Committee also for hosting the Parent Event prior to our celebration.
"Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!"
